Adventure travel destinations in the Western Hemisphere.?

I am looking for somewhere with numerous hiking options, waterfalls, forests, nice beaches, and rich culture. If you have travelled to any such places, which stand out to you as the best?

BIG SUR in California, has all that, you can camp on the beach (we did) and build a fire ( we did that too) you can hike up the river near Big Sur, There is the Redwood forest close by, , with giant Sequoya tees. you are close to everything yet still out in the wilds.
More rugged? go to Colorado, or British Colombia or Alberta and drive up the Jasper highway, see the Glaciers before they are gone, and visit Lake Louise, for Sunday Brunch at the Chateau. And hike til you're hearts content. BUT watch out for Grizzleys and Mountain Lions. there are lots( I'm Canadian)

When people go deep sea diving, they need to surface slowly to avoid bubbles forming in the blood? Do sea?
