I had never thought about traveling to China until one of my friends brought it up. We had both been suffering from wanderlust, but neither of us could figure out where to go. Travel to China seemed like a pretty distant possibility. It was so far away, so remote, and so exotic. Both of us spoke about half a dozen languages, but neither of us spoke Chinese, or anything that would help us there besides English. Nonetheless, we decided to take a trip to China.

You see, About one billion people live in China. I knew that it was impossible to see all of these people – that’s about a fifth of the world’s population – but I still thought it would be neat to really see the country that they inhabit. We knew a lot about western Europe, Eastern Europe, and even Russia. Neither of us, however, knew anything about China. It seemed like a shame, since so many people live there. Understanding the world you live in involves understanding China above all else.

We ended up taking a small group trip to China. Every travel guide to China that we read told us that this was a good way to experience the country. The great thing about small group trips, you see, is that you get a more intimate understanding. Basically, small group travel to China combines the advantages of going on your own with the advantages of having a tour guide. You are not in a big group, seeing all of the tourist destinations, so you can interact with the locals a lot more. Nonetheless, you still have a guide to help you out and tell you what to see. If you get lost or confused, it is great to have someone there who speaks the language.

We traveled to China in the summer, and stayed there for about a month. Travel to China costs a lot of money until you actually get there. Airfare, you see, is outrageous. Once you are in the country, however, you will find that the US dollar stretches very far. Don’t get me wrong – if you travel to China and spend a lot of times in the main tourist destinations, your money won’t go as far as you might like. Nevertheless, it is much more affordable than travel to Spain or Anywhere else in Western Europe. A trip to China wasn’t everything that I had dreamed, but it was very interesting. I would like to travel to China again. There is so much that I didn’t get to see.

I have been a big fan of hiking trails for a long time, but lately I have been a little bit disappointed with how little I get done when I go. You see, when you go on hiking trails on foot, it might take you all day – or several days – just to complete one trail. I needed a faster, more exciting way to spend the day in nature. After all, I love hiking but I really don’t have that much time. That is how I took up mountain bike riding.

Riding on mountain bike trails is one of the most exciting things that I have ever done. The great thing about mountain bike trail riding is it that combines the excitement of extreme sports with the beauty of nature. People who ride mountain bike trails get it all – they can spend the day breathing in the fresh forest air, while simultaneously enjoying one of the most extreme, outrageous sports that there is. You just can’t get any better than that!

The only problem with mountain bike track riding is that it takes a while to get to the better trails. Even for those of us who live in a very bike friendly place such as Oregon – my home – mountain bike trails are still usually a good drive from any major urban center. Although there are many foot trails that also allow mountain bike riding, many other ones do not. Sometimes it can take hours to get to the best mountain bike trails. If you really want to take good mountain bike rides, you might have to be willing to devote a whole day to going on a bike trip.

One of the most important factors in whether or not you enjoy riding on mountain bike trails is how good of a bike you have. It makes a huge difference!. Good mountain bikes have shocks on the front and rear wheels which will significantly cushion your ride. They will make you stick to the trail better, giving you more control on the downhill. Eventually, if you ever get serious about riding mountain bike trails, you need to get a good bike and that is that. A good mountain bike can cost 800 dollars or even more, but it is worth the investment. It will give you a great way to have fun while getting an excellent workout at the same time.

For people generally looking for an all inclusive vacation then the first place that comes to mind is the Caribbean. No-one has yet figured out why all inclusive Caribbean vacations are so popular but, the number of tourists arranging this type of break increases every year. Some attribute the popularity of the Caribbean islands to the predominance of this type of vacation; but there is no evidence however, that their popularity has grown specifically because of this move.

The probability is that for many people, the fact that an all inclusive Caribbean Vacation means that they can easily budget for costs; which makes them particularly attractive for families on a budget. Each particular type of vacation caters to a different need since some people may have needs in a specific area that other travelers may not have. An example of that could be when people are visiting family and friends during their Caribbean vacation; there is no reason to book anything but the flight as they will have accommodation and meals already arranged with their family.

In all likelihood, the people going to the islands will book an all inclusive Caribbean vacation to make the trip less expensive than arranging it in any other way. Of course owing to the number of bookings made, it is usually less expensive to book through a tour operator than it is to arrange the vacation independently. Although many independent travelers would never consider arranging a ‘package’ vacation like this. Many people are still unsure of what to expect from an all inclusive vacation even though they have now been around for a good many years.

The only constant with every vacation booked is that the accommodation is included as part of the price. For example, all food, even snacks are part of the arrangement with this type of vacation; some deals only include a breakfast each day. It is strange how many people still believe if they have booked a full board package that it actually means all inclusive!

In actual fact the difference between a full board vacation (three meals a day) and an all inclusive Caribbean vacation is quite great because the latter will also provide all food, snacks, tea, coffee, soft drinks and locally produced alcohol. Many vacation packages may include vouchers or discounts for activities that visitors can participate in; however, the visitor will still need to pay for those activities at some point, although it may not be at the full price. Many all inclusive Caribbean vacations will include other recreational activities; in fact you will be hard pushed to find events and situations where you will need money, which means you are able to enjoy more without the worry of additional cost.

Even in this day and age of computers, technology, and advanced last-minute deals, finding great vacation packages can be a challenge. The problem lies in the offer. May this hasn’t happened to you, but a lot of times I cannot find the offer that was tempting me to click on the ad in the first place. So what happened? The travel agency really thought I wanted to go to Lincoln Nebraska, not Las Vegas, Nevada? Or I really wanted to pay $900, that’s OK, even if the ad said $99? Are sneaky ads just trying to lure us in so they can get us all excited and then hit us with the real vacation cost? Don’t be surprised if that getaway deal you received by email doesn’t even come close to what you expected.

Spring break was a good example . With spring comes oodles of spring-breakers looking for an affordable vacation getaway. My teenage nephew joined the madness this year. He and two of his close buddies were trying desperately to find an affordable vacation. They wanted four nights in the southern part of Florida. Well, just like the rest of us, they got online and started searching. My nephew saw an ad for discount hotels all over the United States, with really good deals in Fort Lauderdale, Daytona and Miami. He clicked on it, ready to lock in a reservation.

To his dismay, all the prices were jacked up unbelievably high . Hey, remember this is spring break we’re talking about here. Everyone wants an affordable vacation on a beach for spring break. It’s not like Florida hotels will be hurting for business. They get it from someone, somewhere, no matter what.

The funny thing my nephew did encounter was the age issue. They informed him that he had to be 25 to get a room. Haaa, I’ve never even heard that one before. I’d say that the hotel is trying to keep spring breakers out! I can’t say I blame them.

What’s your next destination for fun and relaxation? If you really want to get that affordable vacation and enjoy it to the fullest, I suggest serious planning in advance. Try a year in advance or more. If that’s not possible, use websites that compare the top travel sites and locate the best deals; there is a lot of competition, which is a good thing. I can recommend Sherman’s Travel and Travel Zoo. This is what I do, and I tend to get the spots I’m looking for. It’s all about recon work and planning ahead.
