Is it safe to walk alone through upscale Cape Town suburbs like Newlands and Tokai during the day?

I am actually from Cape Town. I've been living in Australia since I was 5 but I fly back for holidays regularly. I haven't been back for 2 years though and I was younger back then so I want to know if I can go walking around nice neighbourhoods alone but still be reasonably safe? BTW I'm 18.

yes lol i do it all the time
even if you in a car, you will see many people walking
just chill, and come visit

Does any one know where a good cheap hotel in Durban is?

Yes, most places are safe during the day, it is usually the poorer areas that should be avoided, especially at night.

No not necessarily you could get hit by a bus if you cross the road without looking or you could get struck by lightning.

Just keep your eyes peeled for any suspicous behaviour around you. It wouldnt hurt to have someone come with you when youre out during the day. Whats the worst that could happen.
