Okay pull your kid out of bed really early you could just carry him/her (at about 3:00am does the trick) make sure you have plenty of coffee> And drive you will a) avoid a lot of traffic and b) at least a few hours of peace and quiet! My family does this all the time when we travel. I’ll wake up and we’ll be crossing the state line!

Neel–see this site for first time visitors to Walt Disney World. It covers when to go, where to stay, what to budget, and everything! http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-family-trip/

Good luck and have a great trip. Dave

i would choose to go on an airplane (if you live far away) and find a disney value resort there is free bus transportation through the whole day. there is also boat transportation and monorail transportation but they’re only for deluxe (luxury) resorts

The best information on crowds is here:

I would use this site to decided when to go. As for cheap hotels there are less expensive ones than the Disney Value resorts, but keep in mind with the Value resorts you get all the extras of Disney’s Best hotels: free transportation, the option of the dinning plan. This save so much money you can not beat the deal.

For a child this age Magic Kingdom is the place to spend most of your time, but each park has something to offer. Plan a few character meals, they will be a huge hit.

In the fall around Halloween. it’s the least crowded time and has amazing weather, 70′s and 80′s. You can get free transportation to all the Disney Theme Parks if you stay on property. By bus, monorail or boat just depends where you are staying. Pop Century is one of the cheapest hotels their and your daughter will love it!!! See Magic Kingdom the main theme park first because its more kid friendly. Than Animal Kingdom and then Hollywood Studios. Epcot is more for adults or older kids.

I always go during fall. If you plan it wisely within a 2 week range you’ll make it to BOTH halloween and xmas events. Weather is a lot better than summer and the longest I waited in line was about 30 min. You should consider staying at a value resort on Disney property (All Star and Pop Century) that way you could use the free Disney transportation and go back easily to the resort if your daughter needs a nap or gets too tired. They start at $82 per night.

I would take her to Magic Kingdom first. That first look at the castle is pure magic.

If you wish to stay off property, you could get a nice room for about $45-50 per night within the 192 area. Some of them offer free shuttles, but they’re not continuos, so you’ll have to be stuck with their schedule. The only pro’s to staying out of Disney property is that you get to pay less for food and of course lodging. You could rent a car for a day or two if you need it for about $20 per day (economy). If you stay on property without a car, it will be harder to get out to eat and you’ll end up paying $12 for a hot dog, fries and coke. That happened to us the first time. Ever since, we rent a car and have the freedom to choose.
